Joni Sullivan Baker
In 2006, Joni Sullivan Baker launched a new venture with the formation of Buoyancy Public Relations, which is based in the Cincinnati, Ohio area.
A native of northwest Indiana she holds a masterís degree in journalism with a public relations emphasis from Northern Illinois University. She earned a bachelorís degree in English from Trinity International University after attending Lincoln Christian University for two years.
In the years that preceded forming Buoyancy, she worked in a variety of industries in several states as well as overseas.
Her career began in community and media relations at an insurance company in the Chicago area, was enriched by developing a public relations department for a Scottish oil servicing company in Aberdeen, Scotland, and later included writing and editing for a medical publisher in Memphis as well as more than a decade of coordinating corporate philanthropy for a leading department store retailer based in St. Louis.
A move to Cincinnati introduced her to the Christian publishing industry, which merged her love of books along with her Christian faith.
When she created Buoyancy Public Relations, she was able to combine the depth of these professional experiences to produce satisfying professional work for companies, causes and authors.
Currently she holds memberships in the Public Relations Society of America, eWomen Network, Womanís City Club of Cincinnati, River Hills Christian Church, and helps coordinate a local networking group called Lovelandís Amazing Women. Previously she served on the marketing committee for Village Life Outreach Project and as a member of the North American Christian Convention Continuation Committee.
In St. Louis, her involvement included holding leadership positions in the Assistance League of St. Louis/Gateway Auxiliary, and the Metropolitan Association for Philanthropy. She was also a member of the YWCA Leader Lunch Steering Committee, the Mathews-Dickey Boys and Girls Club "Sky is the Limit" Career Readiness Steering Committee, and First Christian Church of Florissant. She was selected a member of Leadership St. Louis 2000-2001, and received the Sheer Elegance community service award from the Mathews-Dickey Boys and Girls Club in St. Louis.
She and her husband, a New Testament scholar and seminary professor, raised now-grown and married twin sons, and work and live in historic Loveland with their energetic cat, Fritz. When sheís not working, Joni is likely to be found reading a murder mystery or planning their next trip.
